Badusha Recipe
Delight in the sweet treat of Badusha, a decadent dessert crafted from a familiar recipe, with its own distinct flair.
Ingredients:
For the Dough:
- 4 cups maida flour
- A pinch of baking soda
- 1 cup ghee (or dalda or vegetable shortening)
- 1 cup water
- Oil for deep frying
For the Sugar Syrup:
- 2 cups sugar
- ½ cup water
- 2 pinches of saffron
Method:
1. In a large mixing bowl, combine maida flour, melted ghee, baking soda, and water. Work them together until a soft dough forms. Once you've achieved the right consistency, cover the dough with a damp cloth and set it aside to rest for 5-10 minutes.
2. From the rested dough, pinch off small portions and roll them into balls. Then, using the palm of your hand, gently flatten each ball.
3. Prepare your sugar syrup by combining the sugar, water, and saffron in a pot. Simmer until the syrup reaches a sticky consistency.
4. Heat oil in a deep frying pan and carefully drop in the flattened dough balls. Fry them to a rich golden color.
5. Remove the fried Badusha from the oil and immediately immerse them in the sugar syrup, allowing them to soak thoroughly.
6. Once well-soaked, transfer the Badusha to a plate. Let them cool, allowing the sugar syrup to crystallize slightly around them.
Serve these luscious Badushas and watch them disappear from the plate in no time!
